This meter specifically measures the actual UV spectrum of light both for intensity and total dosage. I use the intensity measurement when I am giving a workshop in a new space to see if the room is truly dim enough for the processes I am teaching. I use the total dosage feature so that I can send someone outside no matter the time of day or the amount of cloudiness and feel confident that they will expose their print for the properly. This is particularly useful late in the day when the UV radiation is changing quite rapidly.

Most UV sensors out there are do not read UV light, they make a calculation based on total light, I think there are new ones that only read UV light and reach their peak at 355n. I will probably keep trying to make it out of sheer curiosity, but I will also buy one as well from Ian since the whole reason I started this was because I wanted one.
