Dear All…I apologize for the typos created by spell-check…it was the Bisson Freres, and not soiled, but Soule. I’ll add as well, Carjat and Nadar, Man Ray . . well, you name it and it was all there, in bins, in acetate and you could simply hold them all in your hands.

The whole thing from the name (APIS) to places we stayed and visited made the history of the medium come alive and vibrate. The only other time(s) I’ve been that goose-bumpy energized was attending the auctions in Paris, London and New York in the early ‘70s when the whole history was there and you pick anything from Talbots, Bisson Frees, soiled, et alia up, hold it in your hand and stare into the magic of history. Generally, outside of the various dealers, trading and buying to sell it was naive, pure and no malice.

I photographer (forgot his name) told me that he was collecting old paper stock, invested substantial money in old paper which was suitable for Colotype, an extremely picky on the type of paper process..but you knew that..
