This seems indeed somewhat too long for half a
DVD-R. Is the drive blinking while the program
I still have on my screen a run of xorriso with
DVD-R some days ago. Closing of track and session
lasted about 25 seconds.
The write method was not DAO, though, but the
cdrskin -v dev=/dev/dvd0 -tao dvd.iso
So option -tao would possibly show a different
behavior. (In libburn this is set via call
burn_write_opts_set_write_type(). Does xfburn
use burn_write_opts_auto_write_type() ?)
I started a blank run on one of my few DVD-RW
and will do a DAO burn run when that is done.
(Stupidly i did not order quick deformatting
and so i have to wait quite a while.)

Did you try shell command "eject" ?
cdrskin --drive_not_o_excl dev=/dev/dvd0 -eject

Possibly growisofs uses different parameters
when closing the session or possibly that was
not a DAO session. I will do some source code
Can you get me the exact growisofs command
out of K3B's debugging window ?
Have a nice day :)
